The Green Living Space is a continuation of the successful cooperation with IKEA Germany further support from Gira and Vaillant.
Compact living with a garden on the roof, connected work wherever and whenever you want, healthy living in your own four walls – With the Green Living Space in Hanover-Langenhagen, SchwörerHaus is picking up on several trends and offers the right living environment for them: compact, flexible, green.
The Green Living Space was created as a joint project with IKEA Germany, Gira and Vaillant. At SchwörerHaus we are convinced that bringing together the expertise of all partners ultimately results in more sustainable solutions – industrially reproducible yet individually customisable. Magazine “Zuhause Wohnen” knows what its readers want and provided helpful advice. The mini house is based on the Schwörer „FlyingSpace“ room module, which can be used to create high-quality affordable living space, even in times of rising property prices.
The fact that the smallest plot has space for a garden with a vegetable patch, barbecue and lounge area is demonstrated by the Green Living Space in Langenhagen, with its clever “urban gardening” solution on the roof. A broad range of seating furniture is spread in between. In the stylish Schwörer designer garden house made of local timber, you can store goods and house gardening equipment. Here too, nothing is static; sometimes the shade awnings can be spread to form a marquee, sometimes they stay rolled up on the sun deck. Even the frame can be erected later, so the home can grow with your financial resources: first the residential module, then the outside steps, followed by the garden house as a high-quality, self-assembly construction kit, and finally the frame – a fabulous concept for a sustainable lifestyle.
The sofa converts into a guest bed, a flap on the wall enlarges the work surface in the kitchen if required. Cupboards, shelves and cabinets in various formats loosely arranged along the walls make the space come alive, as well as providing plenty of storage space. The bookshelf directly below the ceiling is ingenious. Everything that is important hangs on hooks within reach. This is how Michael Haas uses every square metre for an ordering system that seems almost incidental. The trick: high-quality oak parquet in combination with the linear IKEA style and a low-key, white-grey colour palette make the compact space seem large and peaceful. Muntin windows as well as graphical prints on cushions and carpets contribute to the comfortably tidy ambience in a Scandinavian look. Design creation by Michael Haas, Interior Design Manager of IKEA Germany.

Smart technology not only guarantees greater comfort – online weather forecasts or preprogrammed light and music scenarios can be called up at the touch of a button – it also helps with energy saving. For example, for night operation, the heating is automatically turned down by a timer switch. Another benefit: the technology is easy to operate, as it uses an intuitive, multi-touch display – the Gira G1, the 9 x 16 cm operating panel for the entire KNX building technology, is integrated into the Green Living Space. KNX is the world-leading standard in cable-based bus technology. Smart networking via KNX requires a cable installed in the wall, parallel to the power line. The intelligence lies in the sensors. These devices – called key sensors – replace the conventional push switches. They send control commands to lights, blinds, the music system and other devices connected to KNX.
Energy efficiency, warmth and a good indoor climate are ensured by the controlled ventilation and extraction with heat recovery and a heat recycling value over 80 percent, in combination with direct electric heating. Hot water is produced by a flow heater in a niche above the washing machine. Free electricity from the sun is supplied by eight photovoltaic modules integrated vertically into the eastern façade. These are designed for total capacity of 2.36 KWp. The inverter for conversion to usable domestic electricity has also been placed in the niche above the washing machine. For the execution, SchwörerHaus was able to draw on the expertise of home technology specialist Vaillant.
